Rory McIlroy is already considered a golf legend at the young age of 23. He began his practice at the age of 2, in his home country of Ireland.  McIlroy learned his craft following his father, Gerry McIlroy, a good golfer himself and from that moment on he was “hooked”.  By the age of 15, in 2005, McIlroy won both the West of Ireland Championship and the Irish Close Championship becoming the youngest to ever win these titles.  By 2006, he won the European Amateur Tour and with several wins andchampionships underneath his belt he continued his climb to the top.

McIlroy has played among the world’s most revered golfers, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood and KeeganBradley. In 2011, he took the title as the U.S. Open champion, which was held at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Just a few months ago in March right here in Palm Beach Gardens at the PGA National Resort and Spa, Rory won the Honda Classic, where he shot 4-under-par 66 in the morning launching his name near the top of the leaderboard again. He held a consistent lead in the final day but Tiger Woods was hot on his trail and earned a close second. McIlroy shot a 12-under overall, 2 strokes less than Woods. After this huge win, McIlroy surpassed Luke Donald and is now the world’s number one golfer. Some of the other accomplishments McIlroy has made in the past year include a win at the Hong Kong Open on the European Tour, he finished as a runner-up at the Abu Dhabi Championship, a second place finish at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and he finished in the top 10 of his past 11 tournaments. Rory McIlroy may be 23 years old but he has shown a tremendous amount of promise, skill, dedication and pure raw talent as a professional golfer!

Although McIlroy is a native Irishman and still calls it his home, he has found a second residence on Jupiter’s Loxahatchee River. After his win at the Honda Classic, Rory joined the prestigious Bear’s Club, where often works out, practices his game and enjoys his time.
