The Palm Beach Marathon Is Back!

After a two-year hiatus, the FITTEAM Palm Beach Marathon is back for a weekend long full of events that consists award ceremonies, concerts, fireworks, expos and more throughout West Palm Beach.

The weekend long marathon starts Friday, December 1st with several warm up events leading up to the big marathon on Sunday, December 3rd.

For those not up for a full 26.2 miles, there will also be a 5K race on Friday, in addition to a half marathon, and a relay race on Sunday.

The Weekend Itinerary includes:

Friday, December 1st:

Health and Fitness Expo at CityPlace featuring running appeal, race information, wellness products and services from 12 pm to 6pm. Finishing off Friday night, will be a 5K race and the Palm Beach Marathon Fireworks over the intracoastal waterway to kick off the weekend.

The 5K race (3.1 miles) will start at 6:30 pm on Friday is $40 dollars to run along Flagler Drive and Clematis Street. The price includes a t-shirt, chip timing, a medal that doubles as a holiday ornament, and more.

Saturday, December 2nd:

The Health and Fitness Expo will continue from 10 am to 6 pm at CityPlace. In addition to the expo, at the Meyer Amphitheater, Florida Power and Light is hosting a concert as a thank you to all the first responders in our area. The concert will feature the rock band Sister Hazel and will also include fireworks over the water.

Sunday, December 3rd:

Race day, and for the first time the Palm Beach Town Council approved the marathoners to run on Palm Beach Island for the beginning part of the race. Just after reaching the third mile, runners will cross the Flagler Memorial Bridge onto the island and will head south until eventually making their way back over the Royal Park Bridge to downtown West Palm Beach. Sunday will include the half marathon, a relay race, and the full 26.2-mile marathon.

Half Marathon: start time 6 am, $85 dollars per person, 13.1 miles
Relay Race: start time 6 am, $60 dollars per person consisting of the race being spilt up into 4 legs with each person running 5-8 miles each for the full 26.2-mile race.
Marathon: start time 6 am, Wheelchair Athletes begin at 5:55 am, $105 dollars per person, 26.2 miles

During the race, aid stations providing drinks and food will be available along the route in addition to medical staff, local EMT’s and hospital personnel to assist the runners if needed.

The marathon allowed for 6.5 hours of running on the street and then runners will be moved onto the sidewalks to allow traffic to pass by. The finish line will remain open for 7.5 hours where all runners will receive a medal and support for finishing the race. Walking is allowed and there will be no time limits for the 5K and the Half marathon.
