Stuff for Kids in Jupiter, FL

Abacoa is known for its family friendly atmosphere and this is reflected in its kid-friendly events. For example, Kids Eat Free Monday and Tuesday with the purchase of an adult entrée at Copacabana Cuban Cuisine, Monday through Thursday with the purchase of an adult entree at Jumby Bay Island Grill, and Fridays with the purchase of an adult meal at JJ Muggs Stadium Grill. In addition, on April 5 to April 6, there was a Star Wars Night at Roger Dean Stadium, in which the 501st Everglades Squad was welcomed. Children and adults alike were able to take pictures with their favorite Star Wars characters, as well as play trivia games and contests, and gain exposure to special Star Wars promotions.

From March to April, The 11 time World Champion St. Luis Cardinals as well as the 2 time Champs Miami Marlins call Jupiter and Roger Dean Stadium in Abacoa their baseball home. The players really embrace the kids during spring training, and are much more accessible than during the regular season. Signing autographs, and talking with the kids. In addition, the baseball doesn’t stop after Spring Training is over. Roger Dean stadium is also home to two minor league teams,  the Palm Beach Cardinals and the Jupiter Hammerheads. After all of these baseball games the kids are free to run the bases. A highlight for any little baseball enthusiast.

The 7th Annual Rooney’s 5k Kids’ Mile takes place on April 19th from 6am to 11am. It allows families to come together in support of 4 charities:  Autism Project of Palm Beach County, FAU Honors College, Pathways to Independence and Potentia Academy, and Gold Coast Downs Syndrome Organization. There are a total of over 1000 runners, with the Kids Mile starting at 8:15am. Rooney’s offers a free Irish breakfast to all participants.

Bright Horizons at Abacoa, currently under construction, is a childcare center and a preschool that will open in Summer 2014. It will serve 218 children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years, with an impressive teacher to child ratio, as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. It will be open Monday through Friday, from 7am to 6pm and it is located at 1033 Dakota Drive. Bright Horizons will also offer a discounted VPK program for those entering Pre-Kindergarten, as well as a Summer Camp option. The curriculum focuses on developing confident, successful, life-long learners. Bright Horizons also has a Parent Community newsletter, centered around helpful parenting tips for the developing child.
