Polo in Wellington
Wellington, a village in Palm Beach County located west of West Palm Beach is known to many for its beautiful parks, inviting neighborhoods, great schools, and all things equestrian.
Wellington is known as the Equestrian Capital of the World and the most popular destination for the equestrian life-style. Wellington is home to the Palm Beach International Polo Club and the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
Polo is a game played on horseback between two teams, who use mallets to drive a wooden ball down the field to score between two goal-posts against the opposing team. Polo is the oldest of equestrian sports.
The Palm Beach International Polo Season officially starts December 31st and runs until late April. The club was created by the players, and is a facility designed to show the skills of incredible players and horses. Hosting the largest teams and the most prestigious polo tournaments in the United States.
Every winter, Polo lovers travel to Wellington to enjoy the well-equipped facilities and their love of the sport. The Polo matches are opened to the public and include everything from field-side seating, elegant brunches, grandstand viewings, exclusive boxes, field tailgating, and more.

Visitors also flock to Wellington for the Winter Equestrian Festival starting January 10th and lasting until April 1st. The festival is held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The 12-week competition features participants from all ages with more than 6,000 horses, competing for prizes over a half a billion dollar. The three-month competition is the longest and largest running horse show featuring some of the best riders in their class. The show starts every week on Wednesday and ends on Sunday. Tickets are required for the shows and can be purchased online or at the gate.
In addition, Wellington has been ranked among Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live in the United States” for the last several years. Wellington offers some of the top schools, a low crime rate, and some of the best hospitals in the area.
