While Monday was the official opening day of the Major League Baseball season, Roger Dean Stadium in Abacoa will play host to another opening night tonight.

Today is opening day of the Florida State League season, and with Roger Dean Stadium the home stadium to two of the 12 teams in the league, Abacoa will be home to opening day as the Jupiter Hammerheads will open the season against the Fort Myers Miracle at 6:35pm.

The Florida State League is a minor league affiliate league for Major League Baseball and features several Major League teams' Single A affilitaes. The Hammerheads (Miami Marlins) and Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) will welcome teams from all over the state of Florida throughout the season including the minor league affiliates of the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, and New York Yankees.

With a game almost every night and the FSL season stretching into the first week of September, there will be plenty of opportunites to head out to the park and see some of the best prospects that baseball has to offer as they work their way to getting to the major league level.

Some players to come out of the Florida State League and play in major league baseball over the past several years include St. Louis Cardinals and 2011 World Series Champion Jason Motte and former Florida Marlins and 2003 World Series Champion Dontrelle Willis.
